Wednesday, March 25, 2020, Cheryl Mayhew loving mother of two, grandmother of five, fiancée, and sister, passed away at the age of 58. Born December 12, 1961, in Flint, MI. Cheryl was born to Robert and LaVaughn (McCalip) Lester. In 1976 the family moved to Indianapolis where Cheryl graduated from Lawrence North High School in 1980 and received her associates degree from PCI in 1986. November 1981 Cheryl married and had two daughters Cassy and Crystal.
Through the mentorship of her maternal grandparents and mother Cheryl witnessed stewardship within her faith. Cheryl later applied this type of stewardship to her devotion to her family. Cheryl was a rock upon which the family could build on and she willingly gave all of herself to protect and provide for those she loved. Cheryl loved animals and was unable to turn away an animal in need. She always wanted a goat and a pig, though she was unable to have one in life.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her father Robert, her mother LaVaughn, her brother Kenny, and her brother Bobby. She is survived by her daughters Cassy Stockton (Leo Stockton) and Crystal Moran, fiancée Tom Caplinger, brother Richard Lester (Sherry Lester), sister Dana Lester, and her grandchildren Angel, Junior, Lucas, Cooper, and Nora. A memorial of life service will be scheduled at a later date.
