Cheryl Lynn Wimmer

March 7, 1947 — February 13, 2021

Cheryl Lynn (Stanley) Wimmer – YORKTOWN, IN

Cheryl Lynn (Stanley) Wimmer, 73, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021 after a long and brave battle with dementia.

Cheryl was born March 7, 1947 to Charles Stanley and Mary (Hinkle) Mangus, in Muncie, IN. Cheryl graduated from Yorktown High School in 1965. Shortly after high school she married the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Dean Wimmer, whom she fondly referred to as Dickie Dean. Cheryl met Dick when he was home on leave from the United States Army. He was the brother of her best friend, Vickie (Wimmer) Baldridge. Dick and Cheryl married June 19, 1965 at the Madison Street United Methodist Church in Muncie, IN.

Cheryl loved reading and collecting books, antiquing and searching for treasures with her husband. Cheryl’s most valued treasure was her family, whom she loved dearly. Her family will not only miss her and the love she shared with them, but her infectious laugh and her quick-witted humor. Cheryl loved being silly, she would get to laughing so hard at herself she would often say, “I crack my own self up”. She was loving, kind, ornery and sassy all in one small package and she had the best smile!

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Lisa (Troy) McElfresh, Jill (Scott) Davis, and Aaron (Christy) Wimmer; grandchildren, Brandon (Ashley) Neal, Tanner (Kortney) Davis, Morgan Davis, Laynie Wimmer, and Kenzie Wimmer; great-grandchildren, Kadence, Peyton, Cole, Raylan and Huckson; as well as several siblings, nieces and nephews.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Dean Wimmer – January 10, 2020; parents, Charles Stanley and Mary Mangus; and her in-laws, Edwin and Maribee Wimmer.

A celebration of Cheryl’s life will be held at a later date.
