Cheryl Ann Draper

November 27, 1958 — November 4, 2023

Zionsville

Cheryl Ann Draper passed into eternity at her home on November 4, 2023.

Born November 27, 1958 in Indianapolis to Paul E. McMillan and Beverly J. McMillan Marvel, Cheryl graduated from Carmel High School in 1977,  earned her BA from Cedarville College in 1981 and her MA from Ball State University in 1985.

Cheryl married Martin J. Draper on September 3, 1988 at College Park Church.  They were blessed with two children, Emily K. Draper (Lemen) and Martin J. “Joe” Draper, Jr.  Her joy was full-time motherhood during the children’s years at home.  Cheryl and Marty remained life-long members of College Park Church.

Cheryl’s career path out of the home centered around Jesus Christ and local youth, serving in various public education, church and para-church roles including guidance counselor, physical education teacher, administrative assistant, and life skills paraprofessional.

Psalm 90:14, “Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.”, was Cheryl’s life verse.  It was posted over the kitchen door and on her heart.  But this was news that she would not hide for herself.  She spent years building relationships and mentorships with young women of the Zionsville junior high and high school communities, sharing the Good News of the Gospel.  This is her life-giving legacy.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her father, Paul E. McMillan and brother, Thomas McMillan.  Surviving Cheryl are her husband, Martin; daughter Emily K. Lemen (Tyler); son Martin J. Draper Jr.; grandson Jack S. Lemen; mother Beverly J. McMillan Marvel; brother Larry McMillan (Peggy); sister Diane Walsh; and fourteen nieces and nephews.
