Charles R. Ford passed away in his home in Indianapolis on February 1, 2021.
Charles was born on March 16, 1946 in Marion County. He was a brick mason for 45 years and married his wife, Sharon, on November 17, 1962.
Charles loved fishing and being on his boat. You could often find him sitting in his recliner on the weekends with his best friend Buster the dog cheering for both IU and the Colts and eating cashews. His grandchildren fondly remember him always stealing their snacks in the night when they would stay for sleepovers and telling them he loved them "a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck." He loved his family and was "Papaw" not only to his own grandchildren but also the children that Sharon cared for over the years. He loved babies and could often be found holding them (and napping with them) in his beloved recliner.
Charles is survived by his wife, Sharon Ford; sons, Charles Jr. (Kim) Ford, Michael (Terri) Ford, and Jimmy (Christy) Ford; eight grandchildren, Brandon, Matthew, Cara, Cody, Sammie, Zach, Amber, and Maddie; and two great grandsons, Foster and Arlo.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Regina, and brother, Eddie.
A celebration of life open house will be held at Sharon's new home on Saturday February 6th from 12pm to 4pm— masks are required.
