Mr. Charles E. Lockert Sr., a beloved and cherished member of the community in Bluffton, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2024, at the age of 70. His life journey began on May 26, 1954, in Kokomo, IN, where he was born to the late James Edward Lockert and Gwendlyn Mae Lockert.
Charles, known for his kind and compassionate nature, worked as a maintenance technician until his retirement in 2017. An individual who found joy in the simple pleasures of life, he took pleasure in music, movies, traveling, long drives, and indulging in a tasty snack.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that will be deeply cherished by his children, Charles E. Tankersley (Tayana) and Tessa Reed (Michael), as well as his siblings, Pamela McKinney, Cheryl A. Lockert, Tracy W. Lockert, Michelle Lockert, and Marcella R. Lockert. His memory will also be carried on by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a large circle of extended family and friends.
The spirits of Charles's siblings, Larry E. Lockert and James A. Lockert, and his parents, James Edward and Gwendlyn, await to reunite with him in eternal peace.
His favorite verse from 2 Timothy 1:7, "For God Hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and love, and of a sound mind," resounds in his memory and guides those who loved and respected him.
May his soul rest in peace as his memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, located at 2025 Winter Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46218. Visitation will be held from 11am - 1pm, with a memorial service immediately to follow at 1:00pm.
