Charisse Antionette Cathey

Charisse Antoinette Cathey affectionately known as “Dolly” was born on October 5th, 1963, in Chicago, IL to the late Cathy Lumpkin and the late Lucious Cathey. She was blessed to be a part of six siblings.

At a very young age Dolly was introduced to Christ as she was member of Light of World C.O.G.I.C. in Chicago, IL and Bethel Temple C.O.G.I.C. in Gary, IN. Dolly walked in the faith of Jesus Christ as her savior, and she believed in his plan. She taught her children and grandchildren to walk in the faith of Jesus Christ. She did her earth angel work by spreading the word and power of Jesus to everyone she knew.

In 1981 Dolly was a graduate of William Rainey Harper High School and in 1984 she received her associate degree in food service from Kennedy King college. She started her career in the food service industry in 1988 with United Airlines until 2005. Her work career continued as a maintenance tech with Valparaiso University from 2006 until 2023.

The most important and life filling role in Charisse’s life was being a mother which she was blessed with two daughters Siobhan Cathey and Tiffany Yvette Jordan. She adored her girls and raised them to be God fearing, strong, loving women. Dolly was the true definition of the perfect mother and friend. She was promoted from mother to grandmother to her grandsons Jordan Thaddeus Greogry and Justin Riley Owens, whom where the light and joy of her world.

On October 4th, 2024, the Lord called for his child and said your job as an earth angel is complete and it is time for you to receive your eternal angel wings. Dolly passed lovingly at home surrounded by family.

Dolly loved music and the joy that it brought, she was a walking music category. Always singing and dancing with her amazing smile and infectious laugh. She is now dancing and singing in peace and in joy with the Lord.

Charisse’s life and legacy will live on, through her daughter/caregiver Siobhan Cathey (Jamard) of Indianapolis, IN, daughter/caregiver Tiffany Jordan (Alexander) of Gary, IN. Two grandsons Jordan and Justin of Indianapolis IN, Brothers: Anthony Cathey (Sharon) of Arlington, TX, Marlon Cathey of Memphis, TN, Sisters: Jacqueline Cathey of Memphis, TN. Crystal Cathey of Memphis, TN. A host of nieces, nephews including (Markus Fillyaw of Independence MO, Vernard and Vincent Powell of Beloit, WI) A host of aunts including (Zadie Hamiton of Chesapeake, Va) (Willie Carol Johnson of Chicago, IL) ( Mattie Hatten of East Point, GA)A host of uncles including ( Ira Lee Echols Sr. of Memphis, TN) Willie Fred Echols (Frances) and cousins including Tracey Norman of Geer SC, Dana Coleman of San Mateo CA Cassandra Echols of Memphis TN, Theodore Coleman (Joyce) of Memphis TN and Larnisha Johnson of Chicago ,IL.

She is preceded in death by her mother Cathy Lumpkin, father Lucious Cathey, brother Thaddeus Antonio Cathey (Annette), and sisters Sharon Cathey and Juwanna Cathey
