Brett Wagner

January 14, 1956 — February 11, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brett Alan Wagner, aged 68, on February 11, 2024. Born on January 14, 1956, in Greencastle, Indiana to James A. Wagner and Shirley A. Grove (both of whom preceded him in death), Brett leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Brett was a man of many talents and passions. Known for his sense of humor and infectious joy, he always had a joke ready to make others laugh. He had a dreamer's spirit and found joy in the simple pleasures of life such as cooking, exploring farmers markets, spending time with livestock, tending to his garden, and even enjoying the playful act of toe pulling.

Throughout his life, Brett wore many hats. From being a skilled real estate agent to working at appraiser and assessor's office, he showcased his versatility and dedication in various professional roles. He also spent time working at a local steel mill and engaging in planning and zoning activities within the community. However, it was his role as "dad" and "grandfather" that brought him the greatest pride and fulfillment.

Brett's unwavering love for his family was the cornerstone of his life. He will always be remembered for the immense love and devotion he showed towards his three children: Leslie (Jerry) Austin, Brett Adam Wagner, and Christina (Paul) Arvin. In addition to his children, he is survived by his brother Dirk (Kathy) Wagner and sister Kim (Paul) DiBernardo.

The loss of Brett will also be deeply felt by his ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren who were fortunate to have experienced his boundless affection. They will forever cherish the memories they shared together.

In honor of Brett's rich life, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date when loved ones can gather together to commemorate the incredible person he was and the lasting impact he had on all those around him.
