Bret Allen Freeman passed away peacefully on September 21, 2023 at his home in Converse, Indiana, following a long bout with health issues. He was 54 years old.
Born August 6, 1969, Bret was much loved by nearly everyone who knew him. He was funny, a natural
storyteller, and blessed with an active imagination, unbridled sense of humor, and an infectious laugh.
He was also an extremely talented cartoonist who was at his very best when he was teaching kids how
to embrace their own talents as artists. He was always a kid at heart.
Bret is survived by the children that he loved more than anything else, Samuel and Sophia Freeman, as
well as his mother, Mildred Freeman, and grandmother, Lucy Shirley. He will be missed by his brother, Bobby (Kimberly) Freeman, their son Connor Freeman, aunts Catherine (Tom) Brewer and Linda (Randy) Dever, as well as a host of cousins and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gary Freeman, grandfather Walter Freeman, grandmother Lela Freeman, and grandfather Neal Shirley.
A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, September 30 beginning at 1pm at the Eastern Woodland Carvers Club, located at 101 S Jefferson St Converse IN 46919.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Bret Allen Freeman Memorial Fund so that his children can be looked after in his absence. Donations can be made at any branch of First Farmer’s Bank & Trust.
