Brady Huggins

October 4, 1932 — November 15, 2020

Brady Huggins was born on October 4, 1932 in Pinehurst, Georgia to the late George Huggins and Jannie Telfair Huggins, who preceded him in death.

He received his primary and secondary education in Georgia and later earned a graduate degree in business from the Ohio State University.

He was a member of the Rock Missionary Baptist Church for over 12 years. Brady was completely dedicated and loyal to the progress of his church. He worked tirelessly to achieve financial accuracy and transparency. He was a model example of a church leader, deacon, trustee, and treasurer. His favorite gospel song was I am a living Testimony.

In 1982, he married Christine Huggins and together they raised 3 children. Christine asked for a man she could love, and God gave her Brady. Brady was just the man Christine could love, respect, and grow with. Together they built a wonderful life.

This kind and caring man dedicated his life to his family, military comrades, and church family. Brady’s patriotism was exemplified through his service to his country for over 21 years in the United States Air Force. After retirement he continued his service in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 261. Brady held the following roles: Post Commander (four times), District 11 Commander and Chaplain and State Chaplain. Also, a member of the American Legion Post 495.

He served another 15 years as a civilian working for Indianapolis Public Schools as a Building Engineer. When Brady was not working, he enjoyed cooking, auto repair, playing card games and watching football. He could captivate any audience with his sense of humor and his mastery of the art of storytelling. Through his stories, he connected with others, passed along history and just flat out entertained. Anyone who met him, instantly loved him. Brady will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was proceeded in death by his son, Stephen Huggins and brothers Jim Huggins, Arthur Huggins, Albert Huggins and sisters Mary Watkins and Bernice Williamson.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife Christine Huggins, his children Gregory Huggins (Valyncia), David Huggins, Darren Huggins, Karren Jefferson (Derek), 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and a host of relatives.
