Brady “Brad” E. Candler, 64, of Fishers, Indiana, passed into the arms of his Savior at 8:15am on January 4, 2021, surrounded by his beloved wife and children.
Born February 26, 1956 in Indianapolis, to Darrell and Marianne Candler, Brad was the middle of three children. Brad taught himself to play the piano as a child – a skill that he continued to share until his final days. He loved to play the piano at family birthdays and gatherings, worship at church, and for the entertainment of his cherished children and grandsons.
Brad was a 1974 graduate of Heritage Christian School, where he served on student counsel, and a 1978 graduate of Bob Jones University in South Carolina. Brad went on to earn his Master’s of Business Administration from Butler University in 1986. Brad met his wife and the love of his life, Kim, while in college in at Bob Jones. Brad and Kim were married in 1985 and their three children – Brady, Alyson, and Bryn - were born in the years following.
Brad was a skilled craftsman and handyman. Whether it was renovating a house for his family or building a toy box for his grandsons, everything that came out of his workshop was beautifully created with love and in the service of others. Whether fixing something around the house, helping maintenance a car, or giving financial advice, Brad was the most reliable source of help for the ones he loved.
Just like his father, Darrell, Brad was a prayer warrior. Brad was a devoted follower of Jesus and desired to become more like Christ every day. Brad was always involved in his church in some way – whether serving as an elder, a treasurer, or as a front door greeter, it was always apparent that serving God through serving others was Brad’s goal in life.
Although quiet and unassuming at times, Brad had a sense of humor that was unmatched. His dry wit, funny facial expressions and hilarious dancing habits brought so much joy to all who were blessed to experience it.
Brad took on one of his favorite roles of his life in 2014, when he became a grandfather, lovingly known to his grandsons as “Papa”. Brad had a very close and special bond with his three grandsons – Zion (6), Rhett (4), and Rhys (2). One of their favorite activities to do together was building wooden toy cars and going to the hardware store.
Brad was preceded in death by his father, Darrell Candler, and his younger sister Valerie Henry. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Kim, son Brady Candler of Colorado Springs, daughters Alyson Candler of Noblesville, and Bryn Alexander of Fishers, his three grandsons, his mother, Marianne Candler of Fishers, brother Greg Candler (Mirriel) of Minnesota, and many adored nieces and nephews.
