Beverly “Bev” Carol (Carlson) Hendricks, 72, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away on December 23, 2023, in Indianapolis, IN. She was born on February 26, 1951, in Chicago, IL, to the late Marshall Curtis Carlson and Mary Merton (Read) Carlson. While completing her bachelor’s degree at Southern Illinois University, she met and married her husband Thomas Roy Hendricks, having and raising two daughters (Carol and Julie). Bev dedicated much of her life to elementary education working in a variety of roles at Lincoln Elementary School in Rochelle, IL, including as a math teacher and school librarian. In addition to teaching, Bev was a talented artist. Individually and with friends, she hand-painted countless holiday and home décor items selling their wares at craft shows across Northern Illinois. Bev also enjoyed quilting, frequently attending quilting retreats with friends. No matter the venue, Bev was a socialite. She enjoyed spending time talking and laughing with friends and neighbors while walking five days a week in her neighborhood. Bev never missed an opportunity to travel with family and friends and always looked forward to her annual trip to the mountains with her sister (Marilyn) and cousin (Carole). However, her greatest joy in life was the time she spent with her family, who will all miss her very much.
Bev is survived by her daughters, Carol (Edward) Richter and Julie (Ryan) Bowman, and five granddaughters Ava, Kaylee, Ellen, Aubrey, and Madison.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Hendricks.
