Betty Watkins

March 10, 1944 — June 22, 2022

Indianapolis

Betty Lou Griffin Watkins was born on March 10, 1944, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Ora Mae and William Griffin.

Betty matriculated through the Indianapolis Public School system and was an honors student and graduate of Crispus Attucks High School. Her academic achievement allowed her to excel and graduate an entire year early.

On October 2, 1968, Betty married Kirk Stephen Watkins Sr. From this 14 year union, two children were born, Keva and Kirk Jr. Over the years, Betty worked for various companies. She was an intelligent, beautiful woman who was a sharp dresser that always kept her hair looking nice. Betty was very outgoing and loved to smile and laugh. She had a quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. Betty absolutely loved her family! She was a “no non-sense mama.” She loved to play bingo and eating good food. One of her favorite little chocolate pleasures was Little Debbie’s.

Betty leaves to cherish her memory: her loving and devoted daughter, Keva Marie Watkins; son, Kirk Stephen Watkins Jr., brother, Pastor Kelvin (Shirley) Griffin, Sr., grandson, Michael Stewart, great grandchildren, Noelle Stewart and Michael Stewart Jr., along with her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ora Mae Griffin, father, William Griffin, and brothers, Robert Griffin and William Griffin Sr.
