Betty Jo An Brittingham

Betty Jo An Brittingham (nee: Huey) went home to her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Christmas Eve, 2024. She was born on March 3rd,1927 in Portland, Indiana to Amy Glenn and Raymond Oliver Huey. At only a few months old, Betty moved to Springfield, Ohio where she attended public schools and was a proud graduate of Springfield High School, class of 1946. Betty married Kenneth Watson and together they had 3 wonderful boys, Carl Eugene, Roger Lee, and Kenneth (Butch) Arthur Jr. In 1960, Betty married her second husband, Willard Brittingham, with whom she had one daughter, Kathy Sue. Betty worked at Springprint Paper Products for over 20 years and retired in 1991 as the Shipping Leader. She loved working and enjoyed being in charge of a fast-paced environment. Betty always brought home boxes of paper placemats to share with her friends and family, and she was particularly proud of her cross-stitch artwork that Springprint commissioned and sold to restaurants across the globe. In 2006, Betty moved to Indianapolis, Indiana to be closer to her family. In her free time, Betty loved staying connected with her many friends; playing bingo, Euchre, and hand-and-foot; and, most importantly, reading her Bible. In 2019, Betty moved to Heritage Woods Assisted Living in Noblesville, Indiana and remained very independent until her body and mind needed more care over the past 2 years.

Betty was an amazing woman with a zest for life—her kindness and caring nature made an impact on every person she met. Her infectious smile, laughter, and positive attitude were a beacon to others. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandkids were her life. She never stopped moving and always wanted to be with others. Betty was a God-fearing woman and member of United Methodist in Springfield, Ohio and First Church of the Nazarine in Indianapolis, Indiana. Although she was baptized as a child, her strong faith and love of Christ led to her second baptism at age 88 in front of a loving and cheering crowd.

Betty is survived by her children: Roger Watson (Ann), Kenneth Watson (Tricia), and Kathy Brittingham-Walker (Thurman); her Grandchildren: Brian Watson, Laura Watson, Dr. Kimberly Ciccero, David Watson, Kenny Watson, Madison Walker, and Harrison Walker; her 14 Great-grandchildren; and her 3 Great-great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her husband (Willard), son (Carl), daughter-in-law (Janet Watson), grandchildren (Angela Watson, Amy Watson-Wireman, and Jon Watson), 3 brothers, and 6 sisters.

We will celebrate Betty’s life at Geist Christian Church (Mud Creek campus) on Tuesday, December 31st, with a showing from 1-3pm followed by a memorial service at 3pm.
