Bennie Taylor was born on March 21, 1944, in Dunbar, Kentucky, to Sylvia E. Pendley. He was one of nine siblings: Bobbie (deceased), Harold (deceased), Dean (deceased), Lee Edwards (deceased), and Garland, Wanda Goodpaster, Patsy Collins, Billie Grimes (deceased), and Clara Thompson (deceased). Bennie was a devoted father to two daughters, Barbie Eastman and Terry Jordan, and a proud grandfather to three grandsons, Daniel Birge, Perry Jordan, and Christopher (Scotty) Jordan II. He also cherished his five great-grandchildren: Christopher Jordan III, Elijah Birge, Izabella Birge, Sabrina Jordan, and Lydia Jordan.
Bennie served honorably in the U.S. Army as a 13B Artillery in the 1st Infantry Division. After his military service, he worked as a truck driver for Murphy Motor Freight and later retired from Yellow Freight.
Bennie was a loving and compassionate man who always knew what he wanted and was never afraid to speak his mind or achieve his goals. His passions included drag racing, building cars, playing poker, darts, and excelling as a pool shark. Despite humble beginnings, Bennie made countless sacrifices to ensure his family had everything they needed and wanted. His unwavering advice and support helped his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren succeed in their endeavors.
Bennie was truly loved and will be greatly missed. His hugs and presence will never be replaced.
