Mrs. Barbara Mae Wood

Mrs. Barbara Mae (Weller) Wood, 79 of Sun City, Arizona passed away on July 11, 2024, in Carmel, Indiana. She was born on July 23, 1944, in Central Wisconsin, and was adopted by Melvin and Verna Weller of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Barb devoted her life to her family and to children, in general. She cherished her marriage and life with Don, her husband of 55 years, and her children and grandchildren. She was an elementary teacher in her early adult life, who supported many children's advocacy organizations and education programs. As wife, mother, homemaker, teacher, and volunteer, she gave of herself to the many lives she touched.

Barb loved her community of family and friends and relished connecting and communicating with everyone her life came in contact with. No one was a stranger to her. Even though brain cancer took a large portion of her hearing away in her later life, she continued her love of connecting with others right up to the end.

Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Don, and her parents, Melvin and Verna Weller.

She is survived by her daughter, Joanna Wood; her sons, Donald Wood, and Robert Wood, as well as her two granddaughters, Stephanie Wood (Youngwood), and Abigail Wood.

Both she and Don were firm in their desire to be cremated and she requested no ceremony.
