Barbara Kay Walden, 67, met her Lord Jesus on April 11th, 2024. She lived in Bargersville, IN., for the past 23 years with her husband, Mark.
Barbara was born October 17th, 1956 in Indianapolis. She grew up on a farm in Sheridan and graduated with the Sheridan class of '74.
Shortly after graduation, Barb enlisted in the U.S. Navy. She served with distinction in the U.S. Navy from October 1974 to July 2000. She was initiated to Chief Personnelman in 1990. She earned numerous medals, ribbons, and awards for her outstanding service. Her passion was mentoring others and she was instrumental in the successful career development of all Sailors. A respected leader known as a Subject Matter Expert in her field.
Duty stations include NAS Atlanta GA, NAS Point Mugu CA, Little Creek VA and more. Barb was a true animal lover and took her beloved cats wherever she went
Barbara and Mark loved going to Colts games and were season ticket holders for many years, as well as members of the Blue Crew. If you were at a game, chances are you heard her cheering! They also really enjoyed going to the Indy 500.
Barb's dream was to retire in the FL Keys. That dream never became reality but she found equal pleasure visiting Northern MI. No matter where she was, she was full of spunk and was always dedicated to whatever task she took on.
On August 8th, 2022 Barbara accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Her passing was full of peace and anticipation of meeting Jesus.
Barbara was preceded in death by 2 sets of parents, Shirley and Bud Pearson, and John and Wendy Riedlinger; her beloved grandparents, and her brother, Steven
She leaves behind her husband, Mark; sisters, Brenda (Joe) Rust and Shelly (Jeff) Ray; brothers Kevin (Tammy) Riedlinger and Tom (Lora) Riedlinger; bonus daughters, Lacy (Matt) O'Malley and Cassie (Kate) Walden; along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and two grands.
Our loss is Heaven's gain!
The family is planning a Celebration of Barb's life at a later date.
While nothing is expected, anyone who wishes to honor Barb's memory, the family kindly requests, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Hope Marie's Fund animal rescue in Franklin IN.
