Barbara "Joyce" Gamble of Greenfield passed away June 26, 2021. She was born in Indianapolis May 31, 1934 to Jim & Mildred Collins. At the age of 3, the family moved to Terre Haute where she would graduate from Wiley High School. She earned her BS degree in Business Education & Library Science from Indiana State Teachers College as a member of Chi Omega Sorority and Pi Omega Pi Business Honorary. She also earned a Masters in Educational Psychology from Butler University.
After teaching at Warren Central HS, marrying Tom Gamble August 30, 1959, and later teaching at Muncie Central HS, Joyce would have three sons: Greg(Trish), Scott(Nancy), and Eric(Becky) who gave her and Tom eight wonderful grandchildren: Emily, Zach, Connor, Carson, Callie, Nathan, Elizabeth, and Katelyn. She was married to Tom for over 61 wonderful years.
Joyce volunteered as the bookkeeper for the Hancock Region Hancock Gift Shop for 42 years, and enjoyed doing taxes as a volunteer in the TCE program for AARP at the Senior Center for 25 years. She also dedicated countless hours to Tri Kappa Sorority.
Joyce was an avid tennis player, and played in several leagues. As long as she could make contact with the ball, she could make it land where she wanted. She had a way of making opponents beat themselves.
She was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed cross stitching, and had many lifelong friends from playing bunco and bridge. For over 25 years Joyce and Tom enjoyed owning a home on Lake Santee where they enjoyed entertaining family on weekends. Long pontoon rides with grand dogs and grand kids were a favorite pastime she enjoyed while living at the lake.
A private service and burial was held at Falls Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana.
