Barbara Jean (Ulrey) Harvey, was a gift of the Lord to Kenneth Ulrey Sr and Silvia Eileen Alexander of Indianapolis, Indiana. Mrs. Harvey was born on a fall day, on the 13th day of October in the year of 1936. She was born in Indianapolis.
She was the oldest of four children. Her siblings include Juanita Alexander, Roberta Clark, Albert Alexander Jr. and Maureen Alexander. Barbara is reunited with her family with the exception of Maureen, whom has not yet claimed their Heavenly reward.
At the age of 25 Barbara married Luther Nuckols and together they had 4 children. David Nuckols (Lorre Nuckols), Brian Nuckols (Cheryl Nuckols), Robert Nuckols (Stephanie Nuckols), Carla (Nuckols) Henderson.
Barbara later remarried Noel Harvey, who preceded her in death in 1998. The Harvey’s were married 22 years.
She was known as an active community member. She was a blessed part of the Amo 1st Baptist Church for over 20 years. Barbara also served faithfully at the Amo Fish Fry which benefits both the Amo Volunteer Fire Department and Amo Ball Association. Barbara retired from IUPUI after 30 years serving as a payroll clerk.
She leaves behind 4 children, 7 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren and many others who are included in Barbara’s extended family--friends, neighbors, and Church family. Barbara was known as a loving, caring, and compassionate mother, grandma, Mimi, and neighbor to all who knew her. She lived a devout life unto the Lord and was known for going above and beyond to extend love and grace to whomever crossed her path.
Barbara is and will be greatly missed by her family members, friends, and all who have known her. Her legacy will be carried on in the lovely memories in numerous hearts for many years to come.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
