Barbara J. Fox was born in Kirksville, Missouri to Alfred and Ruth Fox and was the younger sister of James. As a young girl she enjoyed dancing and roller skating. She was also in the Pep Squad and exceled at Orchestra, where she played the viola. Upon graduating from Kirksville High School, she worked as a switchboard operator with the local telephone company where she met her future husband Robert Clark, who was active in telecommunications at the Kirksville Air Force Station. They joked over the phone until they met in person and were soon married on Valentine’s Day, 1953.
Bob was promptly shipped overseas during the Korean War, leaving Barbara to navigate a pregnancy and birth of her first child alone. She did just fine.
Following Bobs discharge from the Airforce, the young family moved to Marion, Indiana, where they made their home and welcomed two more children. Their home was filled with an abundance of love and laughter.
In 1966, Bob transferred with Indiana Bell to Indianapolis and the family settled in Carmel.
Barbara was a homemaker who was a den mother to cub scouts, and she also sewed clothing for her children. She hand stitched exquisite quilts which were gifted to many nieces for their weddings. Barbara was always a good sport, enduring a decade of little league, track meets, and numerous fishing and camping trips. Bob convinced Barb to learn to play Bridge which was one of his passions, and quickly became one of hers. Their new favorite pastime became arguing about Bridge.
They were transferred to Wisconsin for four years, which they enjoyed very much. They moved back to Indiana, settling in Noblesville, where Bob and his sons built the house they would retire in. Barbara remained in this beloved home until she passed peacefully on June 2, 2022, four years after Bob. They were married 65 years.
She is survived by sons Larry of Noblesville, Stephen, and daughter-in-law Debbie of Indianapolis, daughter Kathy of Portland, Oregon, and grandchildren Steve and Christina Clark. Barbara’s great grandchildren include David, Liana, Cohen, Olivia and Ryan, and brand new great, great granddaughter Isabelle. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews scattered across the US. Barbara left this world very proud of all of her family.
