It was a smooth pregnancy and our baby was perfectly healthy from the beginning. We didn't know the gender, however, I found out by accident and kept that secret close to my heart.
On Wednesday, June 14th Lauren had her 38-week appointment. We were told everything looked normal and we could be induced as early as Monday. We were getting excited!
On Friday, June 16th, Lauren came to me as I was finishing work for the day/week and told me she was having contractions and that she'd been measuring them over the last hour. We got organized, grabbed our things and drove to the hospital. We were enjoying some music driving to the hospital feeling so energized and excited to meet our baby for the first time.
This being our second child, we knew the drill. We arrived, parked and went on to triage. I even remembered to bring the camera up this time around!
The nurse appeared to be in training. She was having trouble locating the heartbeat. After several minutes, something didn't seem quite right. A couple of others with more experience came in to help and brought more sophisticated technology. All attempts to find the heartbeat were unsuccessful. We were shocked to be hearing the doctor tell us the bad news. This was the beginning of a very heartbreaking and deflating evening. At 9:20 pm Lauren delivered our stillborn baby boy naturally.
We still have so many questions that we hope to have answered. God has a plan and we will continue to search for the meaning of this. We thank everyone for the support in grieving the loss of our second baby boy.
Rest in Peace Bodie William Myers.
