Anna Rita Springer, 86, of Plainfield, Indiana went to be with the Lord on September 13, 2021. She was born on July 3, 1935, in Brockport, Pennsylvania to the late Walter and Gertrude Santini.
She graduated in the top of her class from Indiana High School in Indiana, Pennsylvania 1953. She then left home and enrolled in St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She graduated with her Diploma in 1956. She continued her nursing career receiving her Pediatric Nurse Associate from Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1975. Her delight was well-baby checks, pediatric development, and teaching new mothers how to embrace and nurture new life.
While in nursing school, Anna met the love of her life, William Springer from Indianapolis, at a USO dance while he was stationed in Pittsburgh, PA. It was love at first sight and they were married in 1956. They moved to Indianapolis where they continued to grow in love and built a beautiful family with many circles of friends. Rita enjoyed traveling, meeting new people as she never met a stranger, adored babies, and loved gardening especially her flowers. She loved having family over for dinners and always set a beautiful table complete with her China dinnerware collections. She volunteered her time and service through the USO at the Indianapolis Airport assisting weary traveling active duty and veterans from all services. She was an avid reader and a follower of British lore and the Royal Family even receiving a letter from the Queen's staff.
Anna is survived by her husband, William Springer; children, Cara Harris (Steve Frye), Debi (Doug) Lee, Suzie Trotter; siblings, Norma (Dick) Kaufman, Dennis (Laura) Santini; grandchildren, Amanda (Brandon) Rogers, Ryan (Katy) Romack, Aaron (Emma) Lee, Brandon (Sunny) Romack, Bradley Trotter, Sydney Trotter; and five great-grandchildren.
