Anita Oakes

Anita Oakes, 66, passed away on December 5, 2022, in Greenwood, IN.

Anita was born on November 22, 1956, in the Philippines, to Cirilo Tanghal and Patricia Tanghal.

Anita married Curtis Oakes of Greenwood in Guam. The couple had three children, William Oakes, Erica Kilpatrick, and John Oakes.

Anita is survived by her mother, Patricia Tangal; her siblings, Lilia Sua, Teresita Caldwell, Celia Goulet, Merlyn Sua, Eva Hernandez, Antonio Tanghal, and Cerilo Tangal Jr.; her children, William (Madeline) Oakes, Erica (Sean) Kilpatrick, and John (Emily) Oakes; her grandchildren, Henry, Violet, Aiyla, and Arthur; and her 28 nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father, Cirilo Tanghal; her brother, Rogelio Tanghal; and her husband, Curtis Oakes.

Anita was a hard worker. Anita enjoyed socializing and talking on the phone. She loved thrift shopping and garage sales. Anita enjoyed shopping at Saraga International Grocery and cooking for her family and friends. Family favorites were Anita's fried chicken, lumpia, and pancit. Anita devoted her time to her family. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

Memorial donations can be made in Anita's name to the Philippines Cultural Community Center or the American Diabetes Association.
