Alyssa Dempsey

October 7, 1952 — August 20, 2022

Alyssa Ann Donovan Dempsey passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022, after a long illness. She was surrounded by friends and family when she passed. She is survived by her husband, Michael, and her children Seann and Elizabeth.

Alyssa was born in Morristown, NJ in 1952. She received her bachelor's degree in education from Mansfield University in PA, and her master's degree in Education from Indiana Wesleyan University. She taught Elementary Art for more than 35 years in South Carolina, North Carolina and Indiana. She retired from teaching in 2015 and lived with her husband in Columbus, IN.

In retirement, she worked with a women's group at the Mill Race Senior Center to make dolls for distribution to local children's hospitals. She volunteered for several years with the children's programs associated with Columbus' Mill Race Marathon as well as with the Indy 500 parade.

Friends and family can gather Friday, September 2, 2022 at Indiana Funeral Care, Greenwood Chapel, 2433 E. Main St. Greenwood, IN. 46143 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. with the memorial service beginning at 4:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association.
