Alice Mae Beard Murray

Alice Mae Beard Murray, born August 20, 1933 in Roy New Mexico, was a prayer warrior and mother of 12, who departed her earthly home in Greenwood, Indiana on March 13, 2021 and entered her heavenly home at 11:00 am.

Her main purposes in life were to remain faithful to the Lord and to share his love with others. Alice served alongside her husband in ministering the gospel and investing in the lives of many, who saw her as a spiritual mother. The world lost a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother (GiGi), educator and nurturer of the faith.

Alice was the eldest of four children born to Barrett and Margita Beard. She married Reverend John D. Murray on May 14th, 1951. She is survived by her brother Barrett Beard and sisters-in-law Rita Beard, Yvonne Shepherd, Susan McKinney and Marita Lowe and brother-in-law Billy Freeman. She was loved greatly loved and respected by her 12 children, J. David Murray (Jenny), Don Murray (Susan), Barbara Ridley (Lyle), Beverly Mills (Gordon), Duane Murray (Sonia), Charlotte Edmonston, Galya Stanifer (Larry), Cynthia Dudley (Versil), Novalea Saligoe (Joseph), Connie Murray, Ruth South (Dan), Eric Murray (Lina). Her life will be celebrated by her 36 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and 2 buns in the oven.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister Phoebe Sue Beard-Hight, her brother Elmer Beard, and her son-in-law Curtis Edmonston.

The viewing will be at Mount Pleasant Christian Church Chapel, 381 North Bluff Rd, Greenwood, IN 46142 on Tuesday March 16, at 4:00 P.M., followed by the memorial service at 5:00 P.M..
